I Did Nothing Wrong!
I am a school teacher, and as such fall under the “mandated reporter law” when child abuse is suspected. In my 8th grade class a young man made a statement to me during study hall that troubled me. I asked him a few more questions for clarification, then determined there was no problem. He went home and told his sister who apparently freaked out. Ultimately, I was let go for mis-handling the situation. I certainly should have hired an employment lawyer Houston who deals in education. I have lost my reputation and my job.
