Applying for Citizenship Sometimes Requires Fingerprinting

When you are applying for citizenship there might be times when you are required to be fingerprinted so that FBI background checks can be conducted by the USCIS.  The fingerprinting process must be done only by in an authorized fingerprint location.  These authorized sites include USCIS offices (there are 46), Application Support Centers (there are 84) and U.S. consular offices and U.S. military installations located abroad.  You will be contacted by the USCIS if fingerprinting is required in order for your application to be processed.  The fee is $80.00 for each person.  Your immigration application will explain the entire process to you.  The USCIS uses up-to-date electronic technology on fingerprints being submitted for analysis by the FBI so the process does not take too long.
