Purines causes Gout

Something that has been with us as long as we have over indulged in certain food, such a red meats and red wines is the gout. This goes back to antiquity as evidence of gout has been seen in Egyptian mummies. Purines are what these foods contain. It is these pruines that are broken down into uric acids that cause the gout. Gout is an inflammatory reaction to the uric acid crystals. In antiquity, there was very little that could be done except cut back on the foods. This does not tend to work too well on its own and drugs are usually needed.
