Older Parents
My husband is almost twenty years older than I am. This has never concerned me as I am still well within my child bearing years. Recently, we went to the doctor and confirmed my pregnancy. When Joe and I first discussed getting pregnant, genetic diseases never crossed our mind. I know that it is often said when a mother is over forty, the chances of Downs Syndrome increase. What I didn’t know is the same is true if the father is older. We are now waiting on amniocentesis results to ensure everything is okay. Either way, we are keeping the baby, we just want to prepare ourselves for anything.
