avg download is something really ingenius that they did, giving everybody a chance to quickly get protected. Only problem with that is, you still need a working internet connection. And sometimes what viruses do is block your access to the internet, so you couldn’t download anti-virus software. And it is also possible that you never had an internet connectin, but you computer got infected from a CD or any other data carrier. That is why I think we need a service that sends AVG anti-virus to those in need of it for free, or for very little cost, which would make it a true market leader.
